What is it?

Provision of Maths and English designed and tailored to meet the needs of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils working towards their year end examinations and in need of academic and pastoral support to maximise the opportunity for success. In addition to enhancing success opportunities for pupils, the M&E Alternative Provision programme strives to support teaching staff meet year wide objectives and results. Who is it for? Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 pupils struggling to maximise success and achieve full potential in a wider classroom setting. M&E Alternative Provision acts as a robust intervention and helps enhance the possibility of academic success in core subjects, Maths and English.. We actively encourage and support a dynamic approach for successful reintegration, helping:

  • Re-engage students into a mind set of study, progression and outcome
  • Support vulnerable students whose needs can be better met outside of a classroom environment, often struggling with mental health, including stress, anxiety, and depression.
  • Support a growth in resilience and coping strategies
  • Promote pastoral care by supporting emotions and managing behaviour
  • Recognise potential and encourage students to grow confidence and achieve targeted expectations

Ethos and benefits: As a provider of Alternative Provision M&E recognise how the class room environment has not suited the needs, behaviours and personalities of our attending students, therefore, we maintain a key focus of ensuring our provision offers more than the standard curriculum through embedding:
  • Sensory and therapeutic development through lessons being facilitated in a purpose built Health and Wellbeing facility
  • A blend of taught sessions and activities to enhance learning styles, mental health and promote the concept of keeping kids active
M&E Alternative Provision operates as a rolling programme and can therefore accept pupils in need of support as and when required. We are requesting expressions of interest from Secondary Schools across the Liverpool City Region to participate in further discussions and establish potential benefits the Alternative Provision scheme could have for their pupils and teaching staff.
